The Fisher Type SR5 is a compact, high-capacity, direct-operated pressure reducing regulator specifically engineered for applications requiring sanitary design, including use in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and food & beverage industries. The regulator is available in sizes ranging from 1/2-inch to 3-inch (DN 15 to DN 80) and features Tri-Clamp® compatible end connections for hygienic process compatibility. It is suitable for steam, liquid, or gas service.
Principle of Operation
The SR5 regulator operates based on the balance between downstream (outlet) pressure and a spring-loaded diaphragm. As downstream pressure increases, it acts on the diaphragm to reduce valve opening, limiting flow. When demand increases and outlet pressure drops, the spring force reopens the valve plug, maintaining consistent downstream pressure.

Sanitary, Nonporous Internal Finish
• Constructed from 316L stainless steel, all internal wetted surfaces are mechanically polished and electropolished to a surface finish of 20 µin (0.5 µm Ra) for high purity applications.
Broad Control Range
• Accommodates applications with setpoints from 2 to 135 psig (0.2 to 9.3 bar), supporting a wide array of process conditions.
Excellent Turndown Ratio
• Capable of precise control across varying flow rates without requiring reduced Cv trims at low flow levels.
Self-Draining Design
• When installed with the spring case in the upright position, the body allows fluids to drain naturally toward the inlet, ensuring system cleanliness.
CIP/SIP Capable (Clean/Steam-In-Place)
• A lock-in-place pin keeps the valve open during CIP or SIP procedures, enabling uninterrupted cleaning operations.
Soft Seat for Tight Shutoff
• Optional soft seat construction ensures reliable shutoff in dead-end systems, helping prevent pressure buildup.
Stable and Accurate Performance
• An upper guide ring enhances stability across the full operating range, minimizing pressure deviations under variable flow conditions.
