The Fisher™ 912N Series is a line of direct-operated, spring-loaded pressure regulators designed for a wide range of service and industrial applications. These regulators feature an internal limited-capacity relief valve integrated across the diaphragm (see Figure 2), which helps minimize the risk of overpressure. When outlet pressure exceeds the preset relief point, the diaphragm lifts off the relief seat, allowing excess pressure to vent safely through the screened spring case vent. While all models share the same inlet pressure capability, outlet pressure ranges vary based on construction type (see Table 1).

Features

Precise and Responsive Pressure Control
• The disk and lever assembly utilizes a roller-style pivot for smooth, consistent operation. A handwheel option is available for manual adjustment of outlet pressure settings.

Versatile Application
• Compatible with various gases such as natural gas, propane, and air, these regulators are commonly used to supply loading pressure to downstream control devices or systems.

Environmental Protection
• Designed with a "drip lip" vent, the 912N helps prevent vent blockage in icy or wet conditions. When installed with the vent facing downward, any accumulated ice forms a sheath that keeps the vent passage open. The built-in vent screen also helps block insects and debris from entering the spring case.

Easy to Service
• The diaphragm and disk/lever assembly can be replaced without removing the regulator from the pipeline, reducing downtime during maintenance.

Hydrogen Service Ready
• The 912N Series has been rigorously tested and validated for use with hydrogen gas, including assessments for material compatibility, permeation, leakage, and susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement.

Principle of Operation
Refer to Figure 2 for a schematic. The regulator functions based on pressure balance:

• When downstream demand decreases, the resulting increase in outlet pressure raises the diaphragm, pushing the pusher post assembly upward. This causes the valve disk to move closer to the orifice, reducing flow.

• When downstream demand increases, outlet pressure drops. The spring force then pushes the pusher post assembly downward, moving the valve disk away from the orifice, increasing flow.

The internal relief valve provides additional safety by allowing venting when outlet pressure exceeds the relief threshold, protecting downstream components.
