The Fisher Type SR8 is a compact, high-capacity, direct-operated backpressure regulator specifically engineered for applications that demand a sanitary design. Ideal for industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and food and beverage processing, the SR8 regulator is available in sizes ranging from 1/2 inch to 3 inches (15 mm to 80 mm) and is compatible with Tri-Clamp® sanitary fittings. It is designed for use with steam, liquids, or gases.
The Type SR8 operates on a direct-acting principle. Inlet pressure from the controlled system builds underneath the regulator diaphragm and counters the preset spring force applied from above. As inlet pressure rises and exceeds the setpoint force, the diaphragm lifts, allowing the valve plug to open and relieve excess pressure by allowing flow downstream. When inlet pressure drops back below the setpoint, the spring pushes the plug back to its seat, reducing flow or closing it entirely.
